I have been so intent on the fork side of this blog maybe I should share some of the finial – design!
Every year our store participates in the Habitat for Humanity’s Upscale Resale. 20-25 interior designers and stagers put together 10×10 vignettes using Habitat items only. We reupholster, paint, wallpaper and reimagine. The public can view and buy pieces from the vignettes (for a steal!) and all of the profits benefit Habitat.
This year we chose to do a designer’s office. We started with indigo walls and added pops of color throughout. Our desk area was an old dining table that we updated by wrapping in grass cloth wallpaper and then lacquered. Talk about texture! We turned railing from a front porch into a magazine rack and even had blueprints wrapped on canvas. A hand painted zebra hide (on a drop cloth) grounded the room.
It certainly took a village to put this together, including all of our designers, warehouse team, my dad, and a local builder who supplied the trim work and labor to put it up. Thanks to all who participated!
